Hull artist Mark Hebblewhite re-interprets the famous iconic images of those who helped frame our lives. Actors, comedians, singers, outsiders. You know these people but Mark’s black and white pictures show you again and in a new way.

Mark will be present at an opening for his show on Friday 21st March between 7 and 9pm. We would love you to come along, share a glass of wine, see the paintings and say hello to Mark

John Street Gallery proudly presents: AG47#2

A collection of portraits by Hull artist Mark Hebblewhite.

AG47#2 features a collection of Rock Icons, Film Stars, Poets, and Cultural Outsiders.

This body of work represents a small percentage of the monochrome paintings that this prolific artist has produced.
Within the exhibition are several paintings from the outsider icons calendar from the Julian Cope/Black Sheep album/CD ‘Kiss My Sweet Apocalypse’.

Mark is currently the artist in residence for the Black Sheep Art & Craft Division.

This exhibition is the first to be held at the recently re-vamped John Street Gallery, and runs from 25th August - 23rd September 2012.

Opening night Saturday 25th August 6-10pm

Workshop involving painting and sound, creating a soothing and relaxed atmosphere, in which the students participated throughout.

March 5th 2003
ADVENTURESAIL 4 ALL / SOBRIETY PROJECT.
RIVERSIDE GALLERY, RIVERSIDE HOUSE, HULL.

The JANUS project working in conjunction with MIND.
Workshop creating a large riverside mural using acrylic paints. Working with young adults at the end of there confident enhancing course.

November 6th 2004
KINGSWOOD HIGH SCHOOL, HULL.
Workshop portraiture creating bold and modern portraits using oil paints. Working with year 10 students. Workshop in conjunction with my ‘ROCK ‘N’ ROLL ICONS’ exhibition at the school’s gallery.

4th -7th July 2005
RESIDENCY AT HESSLE HIGH SCHOOL, HESSLE.
4 day residency teaching students how to paint portraiture within a small time frame using acrylic paints. The theme of the residency was to paint a series of famous scientists throughout history. Working with year 10 Art GCSE students and year 12 Art ‘A’ Level students. At the end of the residency the collection of paintings where exhibited between the two schools.

NORTH LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL, Scunthorpe.
Working in two primary schools in Scunthorpe, teaching the basic elements of self-portraiture using pencils and acrylic paints, as part of the ‘LETS FACE IT’ programme.

Two day workshops concentrating on modern portraiture, using acrylic paints. Working with sixth-formers and year 12 Art ‘A’ Level students from two separate schools. Workshop in conjunction with my ‘ROCK ‘N’ ROLL ICONS’ exhibition at the museum’s gallery.
